Lake Norman Excursion Announcement
The 2015 Lake Norman Excursion, previously planned for June 6, 2015 in Mooresville, NC will not be held this year. The reasons are complex and the organizers are sorry that the event will not be held. Thank you for supporting this ride so very well for the last eight years, and please check back next year as the organizers will use best efforts to reinstate the ride to create a 2016 event.
The lake Norman Excursion cycling event has a long tradition among North Carolina cyclists. Started by Dwight Calloway in the mid 1980s, the ride ran from Denver, N.C., along the beautiful shores of Lake Norman. The ride was discontinued in the early 90s when Calloway retired. Cool Breeze Cyclery, The Trek Store of Charlotte, Cool Breeze Coaching and Lowes have teamed up with the American Red Cross to re-create this unique cycling experience and use the proceeds from the supported ride as a fundraiser for the Red Cross.
40-, 68- and 100-mile options* These rides will take you through the scenic countryside of Iredell, Rowan
and Catawba counties and the Catawba River Valley that forms the northern end of Lake Norman.
Family Fun Ride (course map): This ride is safe for children and runs entirely inside the Lowe's campus.
